Police in Anambra have arrested 11 people suspected of raping a young woman

11 persons have been detained by the Anambra state police after they were accused of raping a 19-year-old woman.

A group of 11 guys were seen raping a young woman on July 11 in a video that quickly became popular on social media. The incident took place in the state's Orama-etiti town.

The Anambra state police, working with volunteers, have detained six people accused of committing the crime, according to a statement made by the state police spokesperson, Dsp Ikenga Tochukwu.

Six of the guys who were detained admitted to the crime.

Three people were detained by the police following a raid for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Abagana.

The state police commissioner praised the community's security agencies and volunteers for their efforts to reduce crime.

He claimed to end the state's problem with rape and violence against women.
