Senator Lamido Gives 40 Million Naira to Sokoto State Students
1,315 impoverished students from Senator Ibrahim Lamido's Sokoto East Constituency who are enrolled at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto to pursue a variety of degrees have received 40 million Naira scholarships from the senator, who represents the constituency.
In his speech to the students in Sokoto who benefited from the programme, Lamido stated that he was determined to fight poverty in his area.
"The students were evaluated by a committee in all the districts in the Eastern region of the state," the senator, who was represented by Malam Sani Bala, stated.
The program's beneficiaries have been found through in-depth investigation, according to the pupils. When all of the necessary information has been gathered, the funds will be given to the students who received the financial assistance.
"More than 80 million Naira in fees from the assessed students are due to the university; half of that sum has already been paid by the state government. For the students' continued education, Senator Lamido has now paid for half of it, he claimed.
When contacted by the media, a few programme participants hailed the assistance as a lifesaver for their ability to finish their education.
