 The head of the European Commission is on an official visit to the Philippines

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is on a working visit to the Philippines to discuss with the government and businessmen.

This is the first time that a head of the commission visited the country, after talking with President Ferdinand Marcos Junior, Mrs Von der Leyen said that the European Union is ready to strengthen relations with the Philippines in terms of maritime security in the country.

The two leaders also signed a trade agreement, agreeing to revive the free trade agreement, which the Philippines has long been hoping for.
