The Nigerian government has increased the funding of 'Unity schools' by more than 100 percent

For new students enrolling in the nationwide federal government secondary schools known as "Unity Schools," the Nigerian government has announced an increase in tuition costs of more than 100%.

Instead of the 45,000 naira they paid last year, the parents of the new pupils would now pay school tuition of 100,000 naira.

In a letter delivered to the principals of federal secondary schools, the Federal Ministry of Education made this declaration.

Parents of new students will be required to pay 100,000 naira in the first semester of this year, according to the notice, which was signed by the director of secondary schools for the Ministry of Hajiya Binta Abdulkadir.

The notice further stated that all other features and activities of the school, such as the price of school supplies, textbooks, sports, and clubs, among others, will be impacted by the new rise in tuition.
