gives proof that Peter Obi is not a member of the Labour Party.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have shown proof that Peter Obi is not a registered member of the Labour Party (LP) to back up their claim.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Shettima gave the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) a copy of the Labour Party registration list for Anambra State on July 5, 2023, as proof of their case.

Obi and the Labour Party launched a petition to challenge the president and his running mate's claims that they won the presidential election on February 25. The president and his running mate have started their defense.

They said that Obi couldn't run for president under the LP because he wasn't a member of the party during the last election.

During the defense hearings at a court in Abuja, their lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), showed the membership list and a letter from the Labour Party dated April 25, 2022, addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as proof.

Tinubu and Shettima said that Obi supposedly quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on May 26, 2022, and then joined the Labour Party on May 27, 2022.

They said that the LP's Presidential Primary Election took place on May 30, 2022, and Obi was chosen as the candidate for the main election.

The lawyers for Tinubu and Shettima said that Section 77(3) of the Electoral Act said that they had to give INEC a full list of their members 30 days before their presidential primary.

This means that the list should have been sent to INEC no later than April 30, 2022.

They say that as of April 30, 2022, Obi was still a member of the PDP, and his name was not on the list of members that the LP sent to INEC.

Obi's lawyer says in his defense that Obi was a member of the PDP even though he ran for president under the LP party.

Even though the lawyer for the petitioners, Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), had problems with the papers, the court accepted them as Exhibits RA17 and RA18.
