Egyptian citizen Ahmed Douma, who was a key figure in the country's conflict in 2011, who spent 10 years in prison, was released after the president's pardon, according to his lawyers this Saturday.

The story that lawyer Tarek Elawady, a member of the presidential pardon committee, testified to the press. Prominent human rights lawyer Khaled Ali and other activists later posted a photo of Douma leaving the Badar prison outside Cairo, which has been criticized for its poor conditions.

Douma was already sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2015 for fighting with security forces, and was sentenced to 15 years in 2019.
