Ganduje has taken over the leadership of the ruling APC party in Nigeria
The National Executive Committee of the APC party has confirmed the former governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the new national chairman of the party.
Ganduje was elected during the meeting of the management committee of the ruling party which was held in Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is among the party leaders who attended the meeting on Thursday.
The committee also confirmed the former speaker of the 9th House of Elders, Senator Ajibola Basiru as the national secretary of the APC.
In his speech, Ganduje said that he will go to great lengths to ensure the party's success in the governorship elections in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states, which will be held on November 11 this year.
Ganduje also thanked President Bola Tinubu and promised to maintain full democracy in the party during his leadership.
On the 17th of July last, the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the General Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore announced their resignations.
