Libya suspended its foreign minister for talks with Israel
Libya has suspended its Minister of Foreign Affairs from work after a meeting she held in Rome, Italy with her Israeli counterpart last week.
The State of Israel described the meeting as historic and a first step in building closer relations between the two countries.
But the ambassador of Libya, Najla al-Mangoush, said that the meeting was a matter of convenience and was not carried out by the government.
Now the Libyan government has started conducting an investigation on Miss Mangoush, where in three days the results of the investigation will be submitted to the Prime Minister of the country.
The National Council of Libya that unites the three provinces of the country has stated that it is impossible to make a relationship between the country and Israel. This incident caused the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly to accuse Najla al-Mangoush of treason and to call an emergency meeting on Monday.
Although the relationship between Israel and the Arab countries and other Muslim countries of the world continues to improve, there is still no diplomatic contact between Israel and Libya.
