Niger has severed relations with Nigeria
Niger's military government has cut ties with Nigeria, Togo, the United States and France after ECOWAS sent a delegation to negotiate with the military that overthrew President Bazoum.
In a speech he made on Niger media, the leader of the coup, Colonel Amadou Abdramane, announced the decision and other measures they have taken.
He said, "We have terminated all diplomatic relations with Nigeria, France, Togo and the United States. Any agreement reached in the past has collapsed."
The delegation sent by ECOWAS to negotiate with the Niger army under the leadership of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, met with some of the soldiers on Thursday but no agreement was reached.
ECOWAS military chiefs have concluded a meeting in Abuja, where they discussed the possibility of military action against Niger if mediation fails.
Last Wednesday, the army of Niger's presidential palace overthrew the government of President Bazoum.
