The Nasarawa State Police Force in Nigeria has said that it is investigating the kidnapping of a female student named Jumoke who is studying at the Institute of Science and Technology in Nasarawa State.


Unknown gunmen attacked the Isa Mustapha Agwai College of Science and Technology in Lafiya, Nasarawa State, where they kidnapped a female student and shot three others.


DSP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson of the state police, confirmed the incident.


"On Monday night at 10:30 p.m., when the police were on patrol, someone called them on the phone and told them that a house behind the college was being robbed. When they arrived at the house, they Three people were injured as a result of gunfire, and it is not known where a female student named Jumoke is."


But Nansel said that they are not sure whether the student was kidnapped or not, at the moment the bandits have not called to ask for ransom money.


He added that the police commissioner of the force has sent security officers to the scene and investigations are being conducted.


Abdullahi Yusuf, the head of the institution's security department, also confirmed the incident and said that the three people who were injured, including two students, are in hospital receiving treatment.


Yusuf explained that the lack of sufficient workers and vehicles prevents them from carrying out work properly.


Some who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, testified that this is not the first time the school has been attacked and lack of security in the school is one of the challenges faced by students and teachers.
