The president of Sudan has again rejected talks with the RSF forces

Sudan's military chief, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reiterated his previous position that there will be no peace talks with the RSF forces until the group is defeated by military means.

"How can peace be concluded with someone who does not accept it, and has different opinions every day? Therefore, we say that there will be no peace until after these the rebels," Burhan told soldiers and allied forces at a military base in Gedaref yesterday.

"There will be no political settlement until the end of the war," he said, in a video posted on the army's Facebook page.

His words come at a time when the army and coalition forces are preparing to retake Gezira state in the middle of the country from the RSF forces.

Fighting continues between the army and the RSF, which broke out in April 2023 in many parts of the country.

So far, more than 10,000 people have been killed in the conflict and millions have been displaced.
