Soldiers repel Lakurawa from Nigeria – Senator Aliero

The Senator representing Kebbi Central, Adamu Aliero, has said that the Nigerian Army has successfully repelled the Lakurawa, who crossed into Niger.

In a statement issued on Friday, Aliero said the victory was achieved following the concerted efforts of the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Bagudu, the Chief of Defence Staff and other stakeholders, Daily Trust reports.

Aliero said, “We told the minister that if the Lakurawa insurgents are not dealt with, what happened in the northeast could be repeated in the northwest. It is a war that can be finished in five days, but if it is not dealt with, the situation will be worse because the northwest is more populated and richer and has more agricultural and pastoral land.

“But do you know that when the military arrived on Tuesday (November 12) they successfully drove them back to Niger Republic?”

The Lakurawa have killed many people in Kebbi State, prompting Senator Aliero and other members of the state House of Assembly to visit Argungu and Augie local governments to witness the devastation they are causing.
