Ukraine fires long-range missiles at Russia - Kremlin

Russia said Ukraine fired long-range missiles supplied by the United States for the first time on Tuesday.

The Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow said Ukraine fired the missiles in a strike on the Russian region of Bryansk.

It said it had successfully destroyed five of the missiles and destroyed one, causing a fire at a military base, and that it was killed immediately without causing any casualties.

Ukrainian media also reported the firing of US missiles into Russia, but Ukrainian authorities have so far refused to comment.

Ukrainian military authorities had earlier confirmed that they had struck an arms depot in Russia's Bryansk region, but did not say whether US missiles were involved.

The statement also said that the attack, which took place about 100 kilometers away, on a military base in the border town of Karachev, caused 12 large explosions.
